IN TRUE HONOR AND MEMORY
AM MEX INTL CH JAY-MAR WIESEN'S RITE ON TARGET MH
Oct 2. 1991 - July 2, 2004 |
|
I have been trying to find the words to
honor this dog for a while now, hopefully, this will do it..
12 and 1/2 years ago I went to meet a 4 day old wirehair
litter of pups. From the get go there was one little
bitch who caught my eye and made me want to figure out how to
get her.
That little pup turned into AM. MEX INTL CH. JAY-MAR WEISEN'S
RITE ON TARGET MH
On July 3.....I had the very difficult job of helping her to a
better place. It was very quiet and peaceful for her. She laid
her head in my arms and quietly let go......it was the single
most difficult thing I have ever had to do.
Target was more then just a dog. She was a teacher...a
friend...a great producer and one heck of a hunting dog.
From the first moment anyone would meet her, they were drawn
to her, she had such style, such intensity about her, she made
you want to interact with her.
At one of her first shows at just a little over 6 months, the
judge was so impressed and amused by her attitude that she
came up to her in line and grabbed her by the beard.....looked
her right in the eye and said to her, "you are such a little
bitch...are you sorry enough to be winner's bitch!!"
That was the beginning of a long and impressive career in many
venues, from being a multi breed winner...to becoming a master
hunter (along the way being the only master hunter to qualify
at the 1994 nationals) to being the dam of the the 1998
nationals breed winner and even at the age of 11, receiving a
first place score in novice obedience after not being in an
obedience ring for over 9 years.
Target had 4 litters in her life...out of those were
produced...
1 DUAL CHAMPION
11 breed champions (including 4 multiple specialty winners)
1 master agility dog
2 master hunters
1 senior hunter
7 junior hunters
And the best part of all is that all of these titles were
earned on 13 dogs making all but one a dog with titles on both
ends.
Most of all Target was a dog who taught he so much, she taught
me to be humble (anyone who knew Target knew she had a mind of
her own sometimes and she could humiliate the very best of
them) she taught me compassion.....she would come over and paw
at me to pet her or nudge her head under my arm if I was
having a bad time...she taught me how to show...how to train,
how to be a breeder.
Target also gave me the ability to come into this world of
wires and be noticed by great people who later became my
friends. She is responsible for so many great
friendships that I have today. She gave me people like all of
you who I cherish in my life as my friends and mentors...and
fellow wirehair lovers.
I truly believe that Target left a very nice stamp on the
wirehair world, it was pretty easy to spot a Target baby and
even now, she comes through in her grandchildren and I hope to
continue to see her influence in the most positive of ways as
I continue to strive to produce dogs that will rival the
specialness that was Target. But her greatest gift was making
people notice her and fall in love with her and thus letting
me get to know these people and enjoy all their talents. and
wisdom, and friendships.
I will be eternally grateful to Target for that gift. I will
miss her every single day and when I look into Lola's eyes, I
will see her looking back and I will do my best to honor her
by being the best friend I can be to all the wonderful people
that she brought into my life. Target had many purposes on
this earth.....she went far and beyond all of them....she will
be missed by many...remembered by all...and be in my heart
forever.
good bye Miss Target....

| | Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... | |
